Buchanan, Tenn.- Large crowds of people flocked to Paris Landing State Park as they got to rock out to music at Froggyfest 2019 on Saturday.

American Idol alum Tristan McIntosh, Johnny Mac and the Heart Attacks and award winning country artists Confederate Railroad, the Kentucky Headhunters and Joe Diffie all performed at Froggyfest 2019.

Celebrate the 4th At Paris Landing

The 4th of July is right around the corner! The fireworks, put on by the Henry County Jaycees, will start after dusk at the Swim Beach. During the day, we will have two food vendors, a beer tent, a DJ, and animal and nature programs throughout the park. No outside alcoholic beverages or fireworks (including sparklers and snap pops) are allowed on the Park. 

Remember, the Swim Beach will close at 2 P.M. to allow the Jaycees to set up the fireworks. High water conditions may cause the Swim Beach to be closed prior to 2 PM.

Tennessee Boat Registration Fees To See First Increase In 12 Years

NASHVILLE — Tennessee boaters have the month of June to renew their boat registration before the first fee increase in 12 years goes into effect on July 1, pending approval by the Government Operations Committee of the Tennessee General Assembly.

Any boating vessel operated by a gas engine, electric motor or sail is required to be registered. The increase is in line with the rise of the consumer price index since the last fee increase was made.

The current fee for a 16-foot boat and under is $13 for one year, $24 for two, and $35 for three. The new fees will be $15, $28, and $41, respectively. Vessels with a length over 16-feet to 26-feet will increase from $25 to $29 for a year. Those over 26 feet to 40 increases from $38 to $44 and vessels more than 40 feet moves from $51 to $59 for a year.

Boat owners have the option to have their vessels registered for one, two, or three years. The registration term may not exceed three years and 30 days. Boat owners will not see the increase until their current registration expires.

Those vessels that are powered only by paddle such as canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and rafts are not required to be registered. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reports there are about 264,000 vessels registered.

Boat registration can be made online 24/7/365 at GoOutdoorsTennessee.com, Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at any TWRA regional office located in Jackson (Region I), Nashville (Region II), Crossville (Region III), and Morristown (Region IV), or by mail.

Tennessee Free Fishing Day Is Saturday

The 2019 Free Fishing Day is this Saturday, June 8. Anyone may fish free without a license in Tennessee’s public waters.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency provides the annual free day in hopes of increasing interest in fishing. The day allows anyone the opportunity to try this great outdoor sport, especially children to celebrate fishing as a wholesome and healthy recreational option. In addition, children ages 15 and younger may fish without a license beginning on Free Fishing Day through the following Friday (June 14).

The day and week are annual events in Tennessee and are great opportunities to introduce children to the enjoyment and excitement of a day on the water catching fish. The TWRA is among several organizations planning special fishing events, primarily for youngsters. The TWRA annually stocks several thousand pounds of fish for various events. For a list of the events, visit the TWRA website at www.tnwildlife.org and click the Fishing tab. Anglers and potential anglers should check the events list often since special events are frequently added. Free Fishing Day and Week apply to Tennessee’s public waters, TWRA owned and operated lakes, and state park facilities. Some privately-owned pay lakes and ponds continue to charge during this special day and week. Anglers will need to consult with those operators if there are any questions about a particular facility.
