Paris Landing State Park will once again be featured in the State Parks Running Tour, with the eight mile "Over the River" race planned for 11 am on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the Park. Walkers will begin at 10 am.
The course starts in the parking lot of Paris Landing State Park Inn. Approximately half the course is in the park, with the other half on Highway 79, crossing over the McWherter Bridge, with the Henry County Sheriff's Department overseeing safety on Highway 79. Runners will be able to run in the emergency lane and one driving lane while on Highway 79.
Runners may register beginning at 9:30 am at the park. Awards and trophies will be given for various age groups.
Meal tickets will be available for runners and their supporters for $7.50 each for the buffet lunch at the Park Inn.
"Bringing this running event to Paris Landing has been a cooperative effort of the tour, the race director, Paris Landing State Park, the Friends of Paris Landing State Park, West Tennessee Bone and Joint Clinic and the Chamber," according to Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce Director Jennifer Wheatley.
