Local inn keepers, David and Sharon Seaton of the Fishtale Lodge won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Kentucky Division 8 tournament this past weekend running out of Paris Landing.
David and Sharon Seaton caught five bass weighing 16.70 pounds with a 5.88 pound kicker that resulted in big fish of the tournament. For the victory, he earned a check for $450 and $50 for big fish.
In second, the team of Eddie and Tammy Barclay caught five bass weighing 16.58 pounds. They pocketed a check for $300.
Taking third place, the team of Joe and Stephanie Dougherty caught five bass weighing 15.87 pounds with a 3.88 pound ladies kicker that resulted in lady’s big fish of the tournament. She received $50 in cash.
Next Couples Tournament is on May 24, running out of Paris Landing Marina. The top angling couples from across the nation earn the right to compete in the annual American Bass Anglers Couples Series National Championship tournament. This year’s tournament will be held on Lake Eufaula in Eufaula, Alabama in September of 2014.
All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Although many married couples compete together as teams, some teams consist of boyfriend and girlfriend combinations, parent-child combinations or just two friends. Contestants between 14 and 18 years old may participate with a parent’s written permission.
