Free Smoke Alarms To Be Handed Out Saturday
Buchanan, Tenn.—A door-to-door smoke alarm campaign will be conducted Saturday in the Buchanan and Paris Landing area.
It will be held from noon until 4 p.m. and representatives of the Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department and other emergency responders will partner with the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s office will be going door-to-door handing out the free smoke alarms.
In April, five family members were killed in a house fire in the Buchanan area.
Paris Landing Fire Chief Reggie Coles said, “We want to spend a few minutes educating our residents about the dangers of fire and offer them free smoke alarms, which we will install while we are there. The smoke alarms are furnished at no charge by the State Fire Marshal’s office. All emergency personnel will be in uniform and all civilian volunteers will have proper documentation with them.”
All emergency services organizations in Henry County, as well as the Red Cross, local dhurches, the Amvets and the American Legion have been invited.
Coles said, “We see this as an opportunity for us to come together as a community to help prevent any further loss of life due to fire.”
The Paris Landing Senior Citizens Center will be offering refreshments for everyone afterward.
