What A Weekend!

The first annual Battle of Paris Landing & Civil War Living History Event and Chili Cook-off took place this past weekend and despite cold temperatures and gloomy weather there was a pretty good turnout.

Chili Cook Off Winners
Chili was judged by aroma, consistency, and taste.
     1.  Dish Pan Delight
     2.  Forests Fartless Chili
     3.  A-Bowl-A-Chili
     4.  Good Time Charlies

Men and women dressed in authentic Civil War clothing for the event. Events included a hayride, a talk on local Civil War history by Larry Ray of Paris and a display of area Civil War memorabilia collected by Dan Griggs of Dover.  A shot was fired from an authentic Civil War cannon every hour at the event. An Infantry and Calvary station was set up for people to see an authentic campground that one might have seen during the Civil War.
